Excerpt from the November Newsletter…by Sue Walsh, POC President and Editor of Newsletter
Today as the dogs and I went on our walk, I began to think about all the benefits of “dog walking.” And I thought it might be neat to list a few, the ones that I miss, well, I am sure you will easily think up.
- Patience level – there is a certain calmness that seems to result after a good walk.
- Noise level – it is definitely quieter when we get in from our walks.
- Cheap entertainment – Except for the “expense” of a few good collars, leashes and a pair of shoes, it doesn’t cost anything to get out there. And we often run into neighbors and friends and enjoy a good chat. Also, this time of year, how can you beat the scenery around here?
- Weight control – seems like I don’t worry so much about the food consumption if we have been faithful about our walks.
- Adventure time – great opportunity to “hunt and see who has been there a head of you.”
- Bonding time – with everyone going in so many different directions, this is a good time to be all together as a group.
- Quiet time – no TVs, computers, or phones (cell stays home) out here, good time to listen tot he world around you.
Yup–nothing beats a good walk!! At least for me, oh, and I am sure the dogs get something out of it as well.
